How to hear and follow God’s voice

by | Feb 9, 2020 | Sermon

Text:      Genesis 26:1-6; 12:14, Genesis 3:9

Lessons Explained

Introduction

The mind of God from the beginning was to commune with men, more reason why He created man. God speaks all the time. One thing to clamor for in life is hearing the voice of God. God’s voice gives direction. The challenge we face as human is that we prefer to hear human’s voice to God’s voice. Our minds are too busy to hear God speaking.

ATMOSPHERE WHERE GOD SPEAKS

  1. Where there is silence. You cannot hear God if your mind is too busy with the things of life. Jesus left the crowd to a nearby mountain (where there is silence) to commune with God. To hear from God, you must avoid distractions. God speaks in an atmosphere where there is silence.
  2. Where His word is being released. God speaks through His word and also in our quite time. A quite time can be done in any posture. The only thing that can alter the plans of the enemies for our life is our altar with God.

THINGS NOT TO DO TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE

  1. Do not force God to speak to you (patience is the key)

Categories of God’s Response

  1. YES: Instant response
  2. NO: Instant response
  3. WAIT: Silence
  4. Do not look unto men but God

DIFFERENT WAYS GOD SPEAKS

  1. Dreams. Job 33:15-16
  2. Trance. Act 10:9-20
  3. Vision.

CONCLUSION

The only obstacle to hearing God’s voice is sin. Sin sinks. God still speaks. Commune with God always and make it a lifestyle.

Do not wait till you are in problem before seeking to hear God’s voice.
