6TH MOUNT OF RESTORATION THANKSGIVING SERVICE TOPIC: THE CHURCH IN SARDIS

by | Jul 26, 2020 | Sermon

Bible Reading : Revelation 3:1-4
Sermon: Rev. Israel Ayuba

There are seven churches in the book of Revelation that we should take note of but this sermon will centre around the church in Sardis.
The church in Sardis had a lot of fault, they were spiritually dead overall. These churches know about Christ, they do church activities but the owner of the church finds them unworthy. They have the knowledge of the truth but they don’t practise it.

TRADITIONS OF THE CHURCH IN SARDIS

1) The church was the first in their area to be converted by the preaching of Apostle Paul. They started well but their end wasn’t good. Their activities does not equal to productivity. It is not enough to do all church activities, pay tithe but your relationship with God matters. 1 Corinthians 10:12

2) They had a name/Title- Titles are different from your proximity with God. Never fall a victim of being too busy for God and the one whom you are busy for does not know you.
Many churches today have a name but do not know God. God is not interested in your titles but your entitlement in Him.

3) They had a fame- God created you to have influence not fame for fame is like a flame, it flies away.

4) They never knew they were dead.
How do you know you are dead?
a) If the things of God no longer appeal to you.
b) When your activities are not motivated by the holyspirit

You may be on the altar and still be far from God. The church is becoming worldly, hence you need to ask for mercy and be in right standing with God.

God help and bless you. Amen.
